Crazyface - a Van Morrison Tribute Band

Crazy Face is a rockin’ seven-piece band, honoring and celebrating the inventive finesse of the legendary Van Morrison. One thing that I love about this band is that they aren’t a typical “cover band.” Instead of simply copying Van Morrison's music, they make it their own and really transform into a modern day fusion band by using Van's style, technique, and more obviously, his songs. So, if you’re not into Van Morrison, you’re not only crazy but you could still love Crazy Face. They'll be playing at BB King's in Memphis on Friday, March 26th from 6pm-9pm.

THE BAND:

CF’s frontman, guitarist, and harp player, Randy “Diggy” Perkins, has been a band leader since the young age of eleven. Diggy started to study Van Morrison at the age of seventeen which instilled in him a passion for songwriting.

On the Drums and percussion is the talented Adam Wirdzek who has been bangin’ on the drums since the young of three.

With Matt Nygren on trumpet, CF really achieves that strident Van Morrison sound. Nygren has appeared on Late Night with David Letterman, The Late Show with Conan O’Brien, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Grand Ol Opry, and several PBS among many others.

Jimmy Bowland rocks the sax and flute and has even won three Grammy’s.

Equally proficient on upright acoustic or electric bass guitar, Atlanta native Dave Webb has toured with Southern soul icon Randall Bramblett (Steve Winwood), Grammy nominated Blues diva Francine Reed, Mickey Dolenz of The Monkees and country chart-toppers Sugarland. Webb also sings background vocals.

David K. Martin, who plays the guitar and sings background vocals, has toured with Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings among others before settling down to concentrate on studio work back in West Virginia, but returned to Nashville in the late 80's to resume his live performance and recording career. Last but not least is Jeremy Nixon on the Keyboard, who really rounds out that Van Morrison sound. Impressively, Nixon has been a drummer and keyboardist since he was old enough to reach the instruments. He was on ten blues, hip-hop, R&B, and jazz recordings by the age of ten.

Topping off the Crazy Face Clan are Amanda Mackintosh & Kate Brassel who complete the Crazy Face Choir.

"More than a copycat tribute band, the seven-piece Crazy Face brings new life to Van's memorable classics, as well as plumbs the depths of his deep album cuts. A fantastic, passionate show for both the casual Van fan and the die-hard aficionado!"
