B.B. King All Stars
This six man line-up consists of vocalists, guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, and horns. Together, the band harmonizes like a smooth Motown group with the improvisation of a jazz outfit; the energy of the band sparks from equal ties to soul, R&B, and funk. The arrangements and firm grasp of hooks and structure make the ‘All Stars’ one of the tightest bands you will hear. The songs are performed with due appreciation of their origins, yet with their own artistic twist, giving the songs a bit of freshness. The band covers a good range of styles and includes nice renditions of some favorite classics. Both guitar and horn fans are sure to be pleased. The brassy arrangements and soulful guitar solos are just a few highlights that allow each of the artists to showcase their talent. The B.B. King All Stars consist of musicians from diverse backgrounds, many of which are gospel influenced. Sounds from the Hammond B3 organ will remind you of Sunday morning service.
Will was raised on blues and southern rock in Memphis, Tennessee. He was playing drums at age five, piano at eight, and guitar at age twelve. Will was discovered by BB King’s Blues Club owner, Tommy Peters, who calls Will “the axe man” and refers to him as “a 16 year old guitar prodigy who exploded onto the Memphis music scene.” After opening three times for BB King when he performed in Memphis, Will formed a band that now performs at BB King’s Blues Club every weekend. Will produced his first CD in the fall of 2009 called "Stealin' the Soul" at Ardent Studios with Grammy nominated producer, Paul Speer.
